Best March Madness Basketball Apps

It’s March Madness time!  NCAA’s annual college basketball tournament is upon us once again.  It’s one of the most exciting sporting events of the year, filled with enough drama to make Days of our Lives look tame.  Unexpected buzzer beaters, rising superstars, and bracket busters occur throughout the course of the event, which lasts from March 18 to April 7.  We’ve created a list of the top March Madness apps for our rejoicing basketball brethren as this year’s tournament will surely contain copious amounts of unadulterated excitement.

ncaa march madness live appNCAA® March Madness® Live

The NCAA March Madness Live app is the official app of the tournament. This app allows you to stream the basketball games live through your phone or tablet.  Access is only available to paid TV subscribers as the games are being broadcasted through CBS, TNT, TBS, and TruTV.  A temporary 3 hour preview ticket grants access to users before login is required.  The official app is perfect for on the go viewers or people on the job.  You’re always just a bathroom break away from watching live basketball action.  If you are unable to watch the games, at least you will keep updated with the live score and stats tracker.

thuuzThuuz

With many games overlapping each other, it is difficult to catch all the action.  The Thuuz app makes it easier to follow the hectic 68 man team tournament.  Thuuz rates live and upcoming games on a scale of 1-100, 100 being the most exciting game possible.  80 would be considered a great game.  A game rated 10 would be a blowout of monumental proportions.  Even more, Thuuz sends alerts of live games in progress once an excitement threshold has been crossed, indicating many scenarios like a large impending  comeback or a down to the wire close game.  This ensures you won’t miss out on any thrillers or billie jeans.

Tournament Bracket Tracker

Keeping track of your bracket is a must especially when you have multiple variations for different office pools. The Yahoo Sports Tourney Pickem and ESPN Tournament Challenge seem to be the most popular bracket apps.  Both apps are free to use and play.  Yahoo is sponsoring celebrity pools with NBA superstars Paul George, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony.  It definitely would be worthwhile to beat Carmelo Anthony and his Syracuse alma mater with a bracket dubbed “Honey Nut Cheerios.”  Yahoo also offers a $1 billion bracket challenge sponsored by Quicken Loans.  The ESPN bracket app allows for a chance to win $10,000 and tickets to the Final Four in Dallas, TX.

ESPN SportsCenter

The ESPN SportsCenter app is good to keep updated on the latest news, scores, analysis, and highlight videos.  One of the more important features of this app is the video highlights, which lets you view the most exciting plays of every game.  It’s all powered by ESPN, so that means you can get your daily dose of Jay Bilas, Andy Katz, and of course Dick Vitale.  Best of all, the SC app has Twitter integration so you can get the latest and most unsubstantiated rumors from a plethora of pseudo sports analysts like Chris Broussard, Stephen A. Smith, and Skip Bayless.  The ESPN TwitterSphere has just confirmed from unreliable sources that the Canadian basketball prodigy Andrew Wiggins will be skipping the NCAA Tournament to join the Harlem Globe Shakers.  Sources have also confirmed that he will be compensated with a $50 gift card to Tim Hortons.

With all these apps available at your finger tips, getting consumed by the March Madness experience is now easier than ever!  Please subscribe to the blog below to stay up to date.

st pattys dayMarch 17th is one of the most important dates in Irish history. It is a holiday that honors the death of St. Patrick, the national apostle who introduced Christianity to the country, also known as the fifth-century patron saint. In recognition of such history, it has turned into one of the biggest celebrations of the year. It revolves around revelry of green clothing, Irish lore, food, and libations.  So bust out your green socks and leprechaun hats to celebrate the day’s festivities. We have compiled a list of apps that will help you have a fun and safe St. Patty’s Day.

 findmytap app

FindMyTap

Beer is the universal symbol of St. Patrick’s Day and it is common for bars and restaurants to dye their beer green. For the green beer lovers out there, FindMyTap is a useful app that helps users locate local pubs. Similar to Yelp’s GPS based search engine, this app filters the destinations to beers and bars only. You can browse through your much-loved beverages and even suggest your favorite bars. The app not only provides you directions but it allows you to leave reviews too. For all the beer connoisseurs out there, quench your thirst with this must-have app.

Happy Hours

If you’re hoping to make Happy Hour last an entire day, then this app is for you. It is supported in just about every major city and uses your GPS to find happy hour deals in your area. It lists happy hour deals based on user feedback. Happy Hours are a great opportunity to be social and merry at an affordable price. Rally your friends and coworkers together for a cheap and memorable time. With the Happy Hours app you’ll know exactly where the early evening drinkers are at. With St. Patrick’s Day around the corner, there’s bound to be a plethora of deals.

Beer Roulette – The Drinking Game

When the beer coma starts to set in, it’s time to break out the Beer Roulette app. Shake up your beer and see who gets to enjoy the beer and who gets sprayed! The beers are digitally “shaken,” mixed, and in turn players must choose one of six cans. The player who gets sprayed is deemed the loser and must chug a beer like a leprechaun.

Taxi Magic, Uber, and Lyft

Going out to a bar for the night? Then you should probably decide against driving and driving. Taxi Magic, a smartphone-based service for booking cabs, allows you to order a taxi and pay online. There’s no extra surcharge — it’s just the flat taxi rate plus a $1 booking fee. One cool feature of this app is if you’re coming from a raging party or standing on the street outside the most crowded pub in town, the Taxi Magic app helps you flag down the cab you called by turning your phone screen into a beacon. Similarly, Uber and Lyft are popular ride sharing apps that allow you to hail a ride based on location. Unlike Taxi Magic, Uber and Lyft drivers are not taxi drivers, but regular people like you and me.

We can always use some help getting into that Irish spirit for the big day. Luckily. there are a lot of apps out there for all our needs.  Have a safe and fun St. Patty’s Day.
