Top Smartphones with Physical QWERTY keyboards

I’m one of a shrinking faction who still swears by the physical QWERTY keyboard. Apple and Android can keep their all-touch interfaces! My fingers are way too big, and my reputation can’t afford a bunch of mis-dialed numbers, or text messages which have to be decrypted. Call me “old school” but I’d be even happier if I could find a smart phone with a HUGE rotary dial in the middle of it!

How COOL are these? Smart phones with rotary dials!

Smartphone Addict’s Top 10 Mashup

I am a smartphone addict, a hashtag quipper, and a social media butterfly.
I love how my Samsung smartphone keeps me connected to my family, friends, work, and even my diet/exercise.  But I’m starting to realize just how addicted I am to my connector to the universe.

Recently on a family beach trip, my wife and I took a long walk on the beach.  I had my Samsung S4 in my pocket and my wife had her iPhone in hand during the walk, you know…just in case.  We began to notice something we’ve never seen before at the beach.  On a beautiful day with only a few waves, we were blown away by the number of people sitting in beach chairs staring endlessly at their smartphones.  No sharks anywhere to be seen and the water seemed to only be reserved for the smartphoneless.  Later that night, we had a big family gathering for beach pictures, and we laughed as we looked at everyone at the end of the photo shoot with heads all down as they feverishly uploaded pictures to Instagram as a beautiful sun sets in the background unnoticed.  We had a long conversation about what the next generation may miss flying right by them as we are all “heads down” to our smartphone.

Everyone remembers the classic YouTube video of the woman who fell in the fountain at the mall as she was wexting, walking and texting.   In an effort to make light of our growing ability to multi-task and flaunt our smartphone addictions everywhere, here is my top 10 mashup for smartphone multi-taskers:

10 Multi-tasks Common to Smartphone Addicts

  1. Platebooking  – Uploading pictures of your dinner so everyone can see how well you are eating.  Too bad its getting cold.  #ilikeitcold
  2. Candy Sitting* – Playing Candy Crush while babysitting.   The kiddos will scream if they need help, and we have got to get past level 36 without buying our way out. That app looks like a kid’s dream on my Samsung S4, but if you let them play while you are “babysitting”, they will get frustrated with its adult complexity and throw your device across the room. #babysittingchamp
  3. 4 Questions 1 Word – Actually the name of the app is 4 Pics 1 Word, but if you try talking to someone while they are playing it – you’ll ask them a question 4 times before they give you a 1 word answer.  #wordsmith
  4. FlipThrone – No need for a magazine rack in the bathroom anymore.   Don’t need details here, just a public service announcement to never borrow other people’s smartphones.  #cloroxwipe
  5. Stop and Smell the Posts – When we skip “soaking in” a special moment because we immediately feel the need to post it to Facebook, Instagram, Google+, Vine, YouTube, and Vimeo.  Post it later after the moment passes and relive it.  LinkedIn can always wait until first thing on Monday morning. #preciousposts
  6. Biogramming – Documenting your life through Instagram.  Just line up the pics and flip through them for a full-length movie.  You know who you are, and so does everybody else! #instragrammy
  7. LunchFlix – Ever seen someone during their lunch break with headphones and out of touch smartphone stare while picking at their food.  Netflix and Hulu are awesome, but chatting with your co-workers may be more impactful to your life than Lost or Downtown Abbey**. #lunchroomabbey
  8. MyFitnessCramp – Logging your fitness accomplishment immediately after finishing has replaced stretching so that you don’t forget that you ran 3 miles.  Post a video of the charley horse in the middle of the night before you stretch it out too.  You too can get 141K views of a painful moment. #grownmancry
  9. Blind Glassing – Scoping out your blind date pregame or in the moment to enhance the conversation.  Google Glass could take this to another level (Google Glass Blind Date).  It would be a super cool experiment to overhaul your profile to some crazy funny stuff about a week before a blind date and see if you catch them in the act. #itsnotstalking
  10. HashtagStorming – Pretty sure people are going to start quoting “hashtag” before verbal punchlines pretty soon.  They are awesome, but if you have spent more than 10 minutes thinking of one, that is 9 minutes and 50 seconds too long.  #2hrstowritethisblog***

But seriously, our smartphones are great, and that is why we are so addicted to them.  If you are a smartphone addict like I am, what would you do without your device for a week?  Develop a nervous twitch?  Would your friends call the police because you stopped posting?  How long would your rehab last before you could afford to buy a new smartphone at full price (usually $500 – $800)?

We are a little biased at, but we think that it is really important to buy smartphone insurance for your iPhone or smartphone if it connects you to so much of your life.  If you lose or damage your device, we’ll make sure your rehab stint is as short as possible.   Check us out.  #totallysharethis

*Candy Sitting sounded better than Baby Crushing

**Highly depends on your co-workers’ awesomeness balanced against the conversations you will miss out on with your friends because you are behind the times – except if you watching Lost. #LastSeasonStinks

Top 10 Most Expensive Honeymoons in History

When it comes to celebrities and their honeymoons, the competition seems to center on which couple can hold the biggest, most extravagant honeymoon ever. Admittedly, these recent weddings pale in comparison to the olden days of kings and queens who spend arguably far more for their honeymoons than most modern celebrity couples could ever afford when you adjust for inflation.

Still, most celebrity couples, including a pair of royal couples, have spent a considerable amount of money on their honeymoons and here we have the top 10 most expensive, at least in recent times. While your honeymoon may not make the top 10 most expensive, you will need travel insurance to make sure that everything goes smoothly.  Check out the different policies available and find one that fits your needs. What follows is the top 10 most extravagant honeymoons in history.

Tiger Woods & Elin Nordegren

This now-divorced couple certainly enjoyed one of the most expensive honeymoons in recent history, although a large part of the expense was the yacht, The Privacy, which was in turn given by Tiger to his bride. The yacht also served as the place where their honeymoon was set as they sailed around the Barbados Islands. The couple reportedly went straight from the wedding to the Sandy Lane Resort in the Barbados where they enjoyed their stay while not aboard the yacht. In total, it is estimated that Tiger Woods spent $57 million on the wedding.

Brad Pitt & Jennifer Aniston

While living rather modestly in some respects, at least compared to the fortune that they both had earned, this now divorced couple spent their honeymoon in the beautiful Sechylles, an island group in the Indian Ocean staying in the famed Fregate Island Resort. This exclusive resort only books 40 guest at a time, which was no issue with Brad and Jennifer since they booked all the rooms instead, insuring their complete privacy. The amount of money spent is not fully known, however, it was certainly one of the most expensive in recent years.

Prince Charles & Princess Diana

Certainly the most celebrated royal wedding in recent history, this power couple of a different sort chose a Mediterranean cruise for their honeymoon aboard the Royal Yacht Brittania. Naturally, they had all the privacy in the world while sailing in this rather large yacht and they also enjoyed plenty of peace and quiet since the crew was not allowed to shout, but instead they had to either write notes or use hand signals instead.

Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman

This couple certainly spared no expense as they flew via private jet to Bora Bora and rented the most expensive accommodations on the island, paying a whopping $15,000 per night to stay at the St. Regis resort. Reportedly, customs officers checked their passports while the couple waited on the plane. That price for the suite by the way included 24 hour butler service, a private pool and in-room Jacuzzi along with a view of one of the most spectacular islands in the world.

Prince William & Kate Middleton

Certainly this royal couple had fun gallivanting around a privately-owned island in the stunning Seychelles, which is located in the Indian Ocean, for 10 days while paying a reported $5,000 per night during their stay. During their entire honeymoon, they enjoyed 24 hour butler service and a personal chef. However, the actual price of their honeymoon stay soared well above $720,000 as they rented out all 11 villas on the island to insure their privacy. Unfortunately, despite all that expense photos of their honeymoon were leaked to the press a year later.

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes

This recently divorced couple certainly had one of the more extravagant and expensive honeymoons in recent history when they rented a private yacht and cruised around the beautiful Maldives Islands in the Indian Ocean. Flying to their destination on a private jet, there were rumors that both of them dined in an underwater restaurant while on their honeymoon. Considering that they took 40 pieces of luggage and lot of toys for their child Suri, this certainly turned out to be one of the most expensive honeymoons on record.

Chelsea Clinton & Marc Mezvinsky

The daughter of Bill & Hillary Clinton started their honeymoon adventure after a reported $2 million was spent on their wedding which took place in South Africa. However, the honeymoon including an all-expense paid safari tour through the deepest part of the countryside, certainly an expensive adventure to say the least.

Courtney Cox & David Arquette

Although their relationship has been over for a while, their honeymoon was certainly very impressive in terms of expense. Not wanting to stay in a single place, Courtney and David visited many different places on their honeymoon adventure including Disney World, Anguilla, Busch Gardens, Cap Juluca and also various places in the Caribbean as well. While not making their honeymoon the most expensive as compared to some others on the list, at least they visited more places for the money that they did spend.

Eva Longoria & Tony Parker

Spending their honeymoon at the exclusive Parrot Cay resort located in the Turks and Caicos Islands, this expensive, but absolutely stunning area of the Caribbean has been visited by many celebrities before on their honeymoons, including Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner to name just one couple. This power couple enjoyed several days and nights at the resort and certainly racked up a hefty bill to put them on the list of most expensive honeymoons in recent years.

Jay Z & Beyonce

This celebrity power couple certainly had the resources to become number one on the list of most extravagant honeymoons in history. However, while we don’t know all the details of their honeymoon, it appears that they managed to keep it relatively tame compared to others who have gone further. In fact, they mostly stayed in the Sanctuary at Camelback Mountain, which is located in Arizona. We do know that they paid a cool $3,500 per night just for the private home which they rented.

5 Notable Rumors Surrounding the iPhone 5s/iPhone 6

Apple has been releasing succeeding generations of the iPhone at least one every year. Since the release of the iPhone 5 September last year, many have been holding out on the iPhone 5 because they are waiting for the next release. No one has the final word yet on whether Apple will be releasing the next iPhone 5s or iPhone 6. We at Protect Your Bubble have put together 5 notable rumors surrounding Apple’s latest gem:

  1. There have been several predictions regarding the specs but the look of it is  xpected to be somewhat similar to the iPhone 5 which led to most people believing that Apple will be releasing the rumored iPhone 5s next. It will have the same shell with slightly improved technical specs and cheaper materials which can help Apple get higher margins than the iPhones released earlier. It will look like an improved iPhone 5 since the rumored iPhone 5s/6 will have different colors like the recently released 5th generation iPod Touch.
  2. This next iPhone is rumored to have the latest technology for its camera, battery and screen. Apple already knows that the camera is one of the most important parts of a smartphone and that is why they are said to be putting a 12-megapixel iSight
  3. camera. It is an up from the 8-megapixel iSight camera of the iPhone 5. To match with this, the flash is said to be improved as well.
  4. As for the battery, current iPhone users have been asking for a longer battery life of their iPhones and Apple might answer their request with an improved battery of the iPhone 5s or iPhone 6. There will definitely be a longer battery life for the next iPhone.
  5. Finally, for the screen, Apple will also have an improvement for its resolution and touch capabilities. If the touch response now is not fast enough, it will be faster and better for the iPhone5s or iPhone 6.
  6. Of course, this next iPhone will have the iOS 7 which will be released officially together with this new iPhone. There are also rumors for higher memory capacity, NFC, wireless charging and an A7 processor. If this next iPhone will truly have all these specs, Apple will surely end up at the top and at the front in the smartphone race.

Reports have stated that the planned release for the rumored iPhone 5s/6 is on the latter part of 2013. As it gets nearer, we get to have a better and clearer picture of what Apple will be releasing. Whether it is the iPhone 5s or iPhone 6, the expectation is set that this will beat all the existing smartphones currently in the market.

And of course, you’ll want to make sure your beloved smartphone is protected, so check out our affordable iPhone insurance that will tide you over until your next upgrade. Cheers!

The 10 Weirdest Ways People have Damaged their Rental Car

Everyday, thousands of people rent vehicles all across the US. At least 99% of the time, everything either goes as planned or if there is an incident, it is usually a minor one. However, there are a few times in which something really weird or unusual happens that damages the rental car.

Sometimes it’s how the accident occurs or how the rental agency handles the paperwork. Either way, there have certainly been some weird and unusual stories about how some people have damaged their rental car.If you should become part of the weirdest ways that people have damaged their rental car, then it is important to have rental car insuranceto protect yourself, family and property if the worst should happen. What follows is the top 10 weirdest ways that people have damaged their rental car.10. The First Time is always the One you RememberFor a man who had never had an accident before, his first just happened to be while driving a rental car. In 2012, he had rented a vehicle from Eurocar at the Munich Airport. No sooner did he pull out of the parking space when he hit a pole, scraping up the driver’s side area badly. At least he didn’t have to go far to report the damage.9. Ice Road Runoff

A young man on his way to his grandmother’s funeral rented a 2010 Mazda 3 to make the trip. Unfortunately, it was February and the slushy roads quickly turned to ice. As he made his way along the road, he was caught in an ice rut that directed his car straight into a snow bank. Although that was bad enough, his vehicle was caught on top of the bank with the wheels spinning. After calling a tow truck, the car was pulled off the embankment and the majority of the damage turned out to be underneath the vehicle, specifically to the windshield wiper fluid and the undercarriage.

8. Don’t Let Friends Drive Your Rental

This is a lesson for anyone renting a vehicle, if you are going to put the car in your name, then only you should drive it. During the 2010 Spring Break season, a group of people drove down to Miami. Before they got to Miami, one of the passengers insisted that it was his turn to drive. No sooner did he get behind the wheel when he rear-ended in a Subaru. As things turned out, the Subaru didn’t suffer a scratch while the grill of the rental car was smashed in. Unfortunately, the renter of the vehicle received a lifetime ban from the rental company.

7. Going Airborne

Another interesting story, also from 2010 involved a man who had rented a vehicle for the weekend and was returning it to the rental agency when he lost control of the vehicle. Not only did it go off the road, it went airborne because of the speed. As the car sailed through the air, the driver wondered if anything else could go wrong. Fortunately for him, no one was hurt. However, the story did make the rounds at the rental agency and the man did have to pay for the damage.

6. The Hit & Run Note

A couple returning to their vehicle saw some damage on the side of the door and this note which was written down on Budget Rent-A-Car stationary.

“Hi, my name is Jack. I accidentally hit your car & someone saw me so I’m pretending to right down my details. Sorry, Jack”

At the very least, Jack was honest about trying to get away with a hit and run attempt. However, there is little doubt that the rental agency was not too pleased about the damage done to their car as well.

5. It Seems Understanding the GPS is Another Matter

In March of 2012, a group of Japanese students visiting Australia had some difficulty understanding the GPS system. In fact, they read it the exact opposite way that the GPS maps had displayed. While no one, not even the Japanese students could explain how they could make such a mistake, the result was that they drove their rental car straight into Moreton Bay.

4. I’m Sure the Swamp is Lovely This Time of the Year

In June, 2011, three women who had rented a Mercedes SUV near Seattle apparently trusted their GPS system a little too much as it directed them to a large boat launch. Apparently content to drive through the “puddle” that was in front of them, they instead plowed their vehicle straight into Mercer Slough. All three got out unharmed, but the car was a total loss.

3. Keeping more than Two Eyes on the Road

The insurance form of many rental agencies have spaces on them for driver comments for the accidents that occur. There are certainly many interesting comments, but one that involved a minor fender-bender apparently revealed an unusual physical capacity.

“The accident happened because I had one eye on the lorry in front, one eye on the pedestrian and the other on the car behind.”

2. The Winchester, UK Phenomenon

This has happened to more than one rental vehicle. The town of Winchester, UK is a rather tiny village without old, narrow roads that simply do not accommodate wider vehicles such as large vans or trucks. For those who rented these types of vehicles, it may be understandable that they would not know about the narrow roads, save for the fact that Exton, a small nearby village, is dotted with large yellow signs warning drivers about the narrow roads which they apparently never see.

1. A World Where Speed Limits are Conditional

While this may not be the best rental car accident story, it certainly involved reasoning by the driver that is not common in this day and age. The accident occurred late at night when the driver was speeding through the countryside and lost control of the vehicle, crashing it into an embankment. While no one was hurt, the driver left this as his explanation for the speed he was travelling on his insurance form – “I didn’t think the speed limit applied after midnight.”

These are the top 10 weirdest ways people have damaged their rental car. If anything is certain, some of the entries on this list probably have already been topped by other accidents involving rental cars.

  3. However – given that it is limited, it does not cover defects or damages resulting from accidents, misuse, improper care, neglect, or unusual physical strain to any parts of the Samsung Galaxy S4.
  4. Within the warranty period, repairs or replacement of the unit are for free of charge depending on the conditions.

Don’t you just hate having things slip from your hands and through your fingers, figuratively and literally? Whether it is by accident or intended, no one would want to have their smartphone damaged, if not broken into small bits of pieces.

My iPhone Saved My Life – Top 10 Amazing iPhone Stories

Mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives.  Phones used to have one function only, to make calls on and there was no other functionality.  As technology advanced, the functionality of phones expanded greatly.  When it comes to functionality, the iPhone is certainly one of the best, if not the best mobile phone.

Many people have found that their iPhones are more than just a way to communicate.  In fact, for many their iPhones are an irreplaceable part of their lives.  Several iphone users were asked why their iPhone has been a lifesaver and here are the top ten amazing iPhone stories.

Wendy K.

I stopped at the grocery store on my home from work on a Thursday afternoon.  I was lucky and the store was not busy so I was able to pull into a front parking spot.  I was walking out of the store when a car backed out of there space and backed right into my car.  I immediately took my iPhone and took some pictures of her car and her license plate and it was a good thing because she drove away!  Thanks to my iPhone, I was able to give enough information to the police to enable them to find her.  Her insurance ended up paying for the repairs to my car.

Joe M.

As a regional representative for a major corporation, I need to travel a lot.  There are some months where I am gone for a week, home for a few days and then gone for a week again.  I spend a lot of time driving, flying, and in hotel rooms.  My wife is a stay at home mom for our twin girls, who are two.  With iMessage and face time, I can see my girls anytime, no matter where I am.  Thanks to my iPhone, I am no longer missing my family while I’m gone; they are always reachable.

Tom A.

My parents had just moved and I was on my way to their house.  As I exited the freeway, my gas light came on.  I could not see any gas stations and I did not want to venture back onto the freeway, because I had not paid enough attention to if I had been passing gas stations or not.  Thanks to my iPhone and Siri, I was able to locate a nearby gas station and get directions to finding it.

Jill R.

I used to carry a day planner but I was always forgetting to actually write things down.  I would always hang up the phone and then think that I’ll remember to write it down on the calendar when I got home but more often than not, I forgot to.  I was always missing important dates because I forgot to write them in my calendar.  With the iPhone, I can schedule reminders instantly using Siri.  I can use Siri to set reminders for myself right then and there so that nothing gets missed or forgotten about ever again.

Mark W.

I commute to work using the train.  I used to bring books to read, but then I find myself having to navigate the train station and the subway, all while trying to not lose my book.  Larger books were simply too unwieldy to carry.  With my iPhone, I no longer need to carry a book.  Thanks to iBooks, I can download books and read them using my iPhone.  Problem solved.

Jerry B.

I spend a lot of time in my car for business.  Reaching my business associates via a phone call to pass short messages along can be time consuming, when a short and simple text message can get the information to them quickly.  With one tap on the keyboard, I can dictate my texts messages to them and then quickly send it on.  I can use dictation to take notes about things that I need to do later, all without distracting myself from the road because the best part is, when I use it with my headset, it reads everything to me before it gets sent.

Mary L.

I have three teenage daughters, all involved in clubs and sports.  They all have different schedules and keeping track of them would be impossible if I did not have my iPhone.  I can update my calendar while on the go and it will synch to my Mac as well.  The iPhone is the only way that I can keep track of our busy schedules and get everybody where they need to be on time.

Shelly C.

Some events only come around once in a lifetime, like my son’s high school graduation!  I was so worried about looking nice, that I forgot my camera.  If I left to get it, I would miss the ceremony.  My husband reminded me that I could take photos with my iPhone, a feature I had never really used because I used my digital camera for all my photos.  I used the iPhone and the photos were great!  We have one of them framed in our living room even!

Barry P.

I do a lot of presentations for my job.  I usually bring either my iPad or my Mac with me and for one presentation, halfway to the client site; I realized that I did not have anything with me but my iPhone.  Thanks to iCloud, I was able to access the relevant paperwork and the presentation on my iPhone and the sale went through.

Beth M.

Not too long ago, I had a job interview and I was very nervous.  I had printed out directions to the place and had them on the table by the front door along with the confirmation email that had the address I was going to.  In my haste, I only grabbed the top paper, the confirmation email, and not the directions.  I did not realize it until I was on the freeway.  I started to panic, and used my headset to call my boyfriend who told me to use my iPhone to get directions, and that I could use Siri through my headset.  I was able to get direction and made it to my interview, on time!

As you can see, iPhones are more than just phones; they are helpful in many ways.  Because iPhones are such a big investment, you should want to protect it.  For those that have an iPhone, they know that they depend on it.

The ten experiences above show how vital having your iPhone can be; can you afford to replace your iPhone if something happened to it?  We insure our cars, our houses and we even get renters insurance but we neglect to insure the smaller things, like our iPhones.  You can get your iPhone insured against theft, loss, and damage.  See Protect Your Bubble today for a quote at their website
